Just found this clip about my college Ceramics Professor Steve Carter. I'm glad to see he is still teaching at UVM and creating gorgeous work. He has been one of the biggest creative influences in my life. The dedication he has to his work and to teaching made a deep impression on me. He is not only a gifted artist, but a generous teacher. I was embarrassed to produce bad art especially in front of talented people which stupidly prevented me from focusing further on ceramics and other art forms. I remember being intimidated by and at the same time appreciating his artistic erudition, intellect and talent. It was a privilege to study under him.
I love how he talks about the generations of women quilters in his family and how quilting was the form of creative expression he was exposed to growing up. You can see that influence in his beautiful work.
